Hi Guys just an update on the current situation, it has ben decided in the best interests of all members to cancel all Branch activities for the foreseeable future, including rides unfortunately. This is in keeping with the Govt. ban on non essential travel. With the AGM not going ahead the committee will stay as is until we can reschedule. if any members need help with anything please contact the committee and we will do what we can to assist. Please take care and look after yourselves and each other. Chopper.

Hey Guys, as yet there is no decision about our AGM in April, the committee are meeting on Monday to decide whether we proceed with the AGM or not, obviously our concerns are with the health of our members. The ANZAC Day event has been cancelled already but other rides are still undecided. I will keep you informed of the committee decision and if you have any concerns please call me. Chopper

Dear Members Cancellation of the 2020 National Rally These past few days the National Committee has been working through the process of cancellation of the Rally and the impacts. This included meeting with the National Rally executive team and committee, Lismore Council representatives and Lismore stakeholders. Logistical, administrative, and legal considerations are part of the decision to cancel our event. Blue Knowles as Ulysses Club Rally Liaison worked through those meetings in Lismore on behalf of the National Committee and we thank him for that. The recommendation by the Federal Government that states consider restricting gatherings of 500 people was obviously a factor. The 2020 National Rally team has worked so hard in their preparation to bring you another wonderful National Rally and the National Committee is disappointed that we must cancel. The health and safety of our members and their families is the most important consideration. We??ll be in touch with you again soon, regarding the Annual General Meeting, commemorative merchandise, refunds and any other rally related information.

Bolton Clarke Ride

Posted by Ado on February 12, 2020 at 11:50 PM Comments comments (2)

Hi All, I will be leading a charity ride to Bolton Clarke Aged Care on the 21st March 2020. My daughter is a diversional Therapist there but on maternal leave atm. This is a ride we have done for the past three years and are continuing again this year. We will be leaving the Ipswich Sports Club 1a Samford Rd. Leichhardt at 9am. Working our way over to Raceveiw and down the highway to Camira where we will turn off and make our way down Johnson Road to Browns Plains to meet up with the Mt Lindesay Branch who are joining us. From there meeting place it is only a short 10 minute run to the Aged Care venue. Eric has a flyer to be put on the webpage. I hope we get a few riders on the day as the residents absolutely love seeing the bikes and chatting to us of our adventures Cheers Ado

Telemachus winner (Spook)

Posted by Ado on February 10, 2020 at 3:50 AM Comments comments (1)

A huge congratulations to Spook for being acknowledged by the National Committee as a worthy recipricant of Telemuchus Medal number 116. Spook has been a great ambassador for the Ipswich Branch since our inception 6 years ago and I thank our branch committee for putting forward the nomination for him. The Telemachus Medal is awarded by the National Committee for services to a branch and is a very prestigeous award. The Ipswich Branch now has three holders of the T.M. The first being our founding webmaster Konrad Walter's number 55 and Amanda Pamenter the branch founding Secretary number 57. I myself was awarded TM number 27 by the Lockyer Branch for 8 years service including the role of President. So having 4 members from a branch that is barely 6 years old is quite an achievement. There are others in the branch who are so very deserving and have not been nominated yet so there is expectations that this branch will go from strength to strength with the strong contingent of volunteers we have.

Hi all, most of you who were on the coffee ride today would know that our fearless leader has broken his left ankle quite serverely, and is preasently in the Ipswich hospital, all I can say is that I'm glad I don't play the game, it seems very dangerous, I'll stick to bike riding.

Coffee Run 31 Jan to Boonah

Posted by Julz and Doogee on December 28, 2019 at 6:40 PM Comments comments (1)

Howdy all and hope you had a great Xmas and didn't eat too much (like we did)!

I'm going to ride to Boonah on 31 Jan for a coffee, either alone or with you!

Leaving Redbank Town Square at 9.00am and meeting near the F45 gym in the corner of the carpark. Not to be confused with Redbank Plaza by the way.

A real short ride straight to Boonah for coffee (maybe for breakfast). If anyone wants to ride longer than that then feel free to take the lead after the Boonah stop.

Hope a couple of you can join in!

Cheers, Julz

Branch Christmas Party

Posted by Peter (Chopper) on November 2, 2019 at 3:40 AM Comments comments (1)

The Branch Christmas Party will be held on the 6th December at Knights Soccer Club Bundamba, there is no cost to members however non members will be asked to pay $15. There will also be a Secret Santa, where those who wish to participate purchase and wrap a gift ($20 maximum), these are then placed on a table and a name will be called for that person t choose a gift from the table, obviously only those that have purchased a gift will be able to take part. There will be savouries served before a Smorgasbord dinner, two piece band and maybe Crash will have a few games to play. We will also raffle the Fox's table. Also its a fancy dress night, no particular theme just wear any costume you like.

If you wish to attend please let the committee know so we can arrange enough food etc. Hope to see you there, it should be fun.

Toy Run Ipswich

Posted by John (Colonel Bow) on October 30, 2019 at 12:05 AM Comments comments (1)

For those who read the "motorcycle rider" website you may have noticed that it says that the Ipswich toy run is to be held at Winston Glades shopping center this year. Please note this is not correct and I have confirmed with Ian "foggy" Winter that as usual it will be held at Brassell shopping center, he has contaced Mark at Motorcycle Writer to correct this error ASAP.

EDIT: The error has now been corrected.

Branch Shirts

Posted by Ado on October 19, 2019 at 5:30 PM Comments comments (1)
I was at a function last night when the subject of changing our shirts to black was raised. Can I implore the current committee to seek the opinion of the rest of the branch because from what I am hearing it is not a popular decision. Myself, I am afraid that tradition seems to have become a dirty word in the branch and I feel it is a shame that the branch is leaving the colours of Ipswich City. The Ipswich shirt colours have easily been identified by every other Ulysses Branch in Australia and have been a subject of discussion at every AGM since our inception. Could the committee please confirm if this is gossip or not, as this seems to be hot topic of conversation

Toy Ride

Posted by Peter (Chopper) on October 15, 2019 at 3:30 AM Comments comments (0)
Ado ha passed this onto me for anyone who maybe interested. Hi All A lady called Amy Louise has rung our branch - the Brisbane Branch to ask if local Ulyssians could help out her fundraiser on the day. Ken Cox, the ride co-ordinator for our group is liaising with her and will be there to help organise the bike riders on the day. She is part of a group trying to get toys to the Mater hospital for sick children as a support for them after they go through some tough times. She has asked people to get together with their neighbours to collect toys. The bike riders are given the streets in which to go and collect the toys. There will be a back up vehicle with them. Ken has spoken to Savaugn and they have decided to support Amy-Louise??s plea for help. Ken is wanting to know of those riders who are willing to give some time to this cause. Amy- Louise would be so grateful for the support as her original biker contact has let her down. Details are as follows. Date. 27th October. Start Point. Chermside Westfield front car park near the ifly centre. 8.30am. Some of the food venues are providing coffees etc before the ride. The latest ride start time will be 10.00am. A ride route will be provided and the bikers will visit participating streets for the collection. Depending on the number of bikers, there may be between 5 and 10 stops. Photos may also be asked to be taken... End Point Warner Tavern 12.00 noon There will be a variety of family fun entertainment. The colours chosen for the day are gold and yellow. Ken would like to know who can make it on the day, so he can be clear with routes etc to Amy-Louise. He can be contacted by phone?0418700185..or email? knox.1@gmail.com
