Night Lights Parade: Saturday Night, 2nd May 2015

Posted by Amanda on April 14, 2015 at 7:55 PM

It’s time to get out your Chrissy Lights and Bling up your Ride for the Ipswich Festival Parade, Saturday 2nd May 2015 (the night before our DV Awareness Ride).

We are Float # 44. Our arrival time is 5:15 pm and we have been asked to arrive at Darling St on the railway side of the road facing Waghorn Street (entry from Ellenborough St into Darling Street). We can meet at Yamanto Macca’s to leave at 5:05 pm – to arrive together if you like, or make your own way there – as long as you aren’t too early or too late – as I said 5:15 pm is our assigned time.

The parade commences at 6 pm and the route will be moving from Darling Street into Waghorn St, Brisbane St, Bell St, Bremer Pde to Ellenborough St and back to Darling St for disembarkment.

We have been asked to move slowly through the parade – there will be an announcer during the parade who will be promoting our DV ride the next day. Please spread out and enjoy the night – enabling the community check out the hard work on your bike. Participants are not permitted to ‘high five’ or hand out any information and there should be limited stopping, only if the floats in front do – not so participants can stop and have a chat with an onlooker.

Following the parade please stay to enjoy the Ipswich Festival Street Concert.

It would be great to have a good turnout from the Branch – however I do understand we are having a big day the next day!

Maybe , because we have such a big day the next day, it might be sensible to zip tie the lights to the bikes for the night. That way we will be able to remove them for the ride in the morning. If we are number 44 on the list then it just goes to show how big an event this will be on the Saturday night. I hope to see that we have a good turnout from our branch.
